Standings quick answers

When are the World Cup 2026 standings updated?

When the FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage begins, GoalPulse will update points, goal difference, goals scored and rankings after each completed match. No matches have finished yet.

How are points calculated in the group stage?

A win is worth 3 points, a draw is worth 1 point and a loss is worth 0. Each team plays three group matches, and the table shows played, wins, draws, losses, goal difference and points.

What is the tiebreaker order?

Tied teams are separated first by overall goal difference and overall goals scored in all group matches; if still level, FIFA compares head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference and head-to-head goals scored, then fair-play points and drawing of lots.

Can third-place teams advance?

Yes. The top two teams in each of the 12 groups advance directly, and the eight best third-place teams also reach the Round of 32.
